The hidden illness: Anxiety
As I experiment with photography and the use of charcoal, I discovered a different way of seeing my creations. I envisioned the idea of the "mental illness card" and how those who don't understand an illness like anxiety are unaware that it is not just something made up in our heads. That they always see it as an excuse. If only there was a way to physically show these people how real it actually is. So, I came up with the idea of "X-ray vision" as a form of seeing inside the person and getting a glimpse of what they're experiencing. As you can see in these recent works, I have chosen to show this with the imagery of internal drowning as one concept and the chaotic head as another using charcoal to demonstrate this. I am looking to further expand on this concept without being too direct and will formulate different ways to "see inside" the person suffering so that the outside world can understand better. Besides, my reasoning for working on this is mainly due to the fact that it is such a misunderstood topic that needs more awareness. That is the end goal. Awareness.
